Claudia Joyner MD advocates a holistic approach to medical care, and utilizes a bio-psycho-social model of treatment planning.

Each individual is unique and benefits from a unique combination of care which may include:

  • psychotherapy
  • appropriate medical diagnostics (e.g. labs, ekg)
  • discussion of medication options, if indicated by the severity of symptoms
  • light therapy for Seasonal Affective Disorder, TMS for refractory depression or patients unable to tolerate medications
  • referrals to primary care physicians or medical specialists (e.g. cardiac eval, sleep study, neurological eval or pain clinic)
  • behavioral and relaxation treatment and possible referrals (e.g. biofeedback, meditation/yoga, massage therapy, acupuncture)
  • discussion of general nutritional needs and usefulness of possible non-prescription support
  • benefits of exercise (which produces the body’s own opioids – the endorphins)
  • family support/sessions
